BBL player stats reveal the best batsman, bowler, wicketkeeper, and captain in the Australian T20 league over the years. The eight-team league has unearthed many talented cricketers. Some of those players made a name for themselves in international cricket.

BBL Player Stats – Best Batsman

With 3005 runs at a strike rate of 148.83, Chris Lynn is the leading run-scorer in BBL. The hard-hitting Aussie batter also holds the record for most fifties and sixes. Consistent performances in BBL helped him make his debut for Australia’s white-ball teams.

Lynn, also known as ‘Lynnsanity’ for his lighting performances with the bat, has struck a century in BBL – 101 off 51 balls. He has also represented erstwhile Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. The 32-year-old struck a 19-ball fifty in the IPL 2017 season.

Alex Hales Big Bash Stats

T20 specialist Alex Hales has scored the most runs by an overseas player in BBL. The Englishman, who will play for Sydney Thunder this season, has amassed 1857 runs in 60 innings, including a century in the 2020-21 season. After his fine outing in the 2022 T20 World Cup, Hales is one of the players to watch out for in BBL 12.

Big Bash League Stats – Uncapped Jonathan Wells


Jonathan Wells is leading the run-scoring chart among uncapped players in BBL. He has racked up 2554 runs at a strike rate of 122.78. Despite his stellar record, the 34-year-old is yet to wear the baggy green. Wells will wear the Melbourne Renegades jersey in the upcoming season after signing a two-year deal with the 2018-19 champions.

BBL Player Stats – Best Bowler


With 125 wickets, pacer Sydney Sixers’ Sean Abbott leads the BBL bowling charts. The 30-year-old has a strike rate of 14.7 and clinched three four-wicket hauls and a five-fer. In BBL 11, Abbott produced one of the most remarkable all-rounder performances in T20 cricket. He took four wickets and scored a match-winning 37* in a low-scoring thriller against Brisbane Heat.

Rashid Khan BBL

Since making his debut in the 2017-18 season, Rashid Khan has been BBL’s most popular overseas player. The Afghan spin king, who claimed 6/17 against Brisbane Heat last season, is eight wickets shy of the 100-wicket mark. He represents Adelaide Strikers in the Australian T20 league.

BBL Player Stats – Best Wicketkeeper


At 25, Josh Philippe has made the second-most dismissals in BBL and boasts a strike rate of 142.68. The wicketkeeper-batter made a name for himself in the 2018-19 season and has amassed more than 400 runs in each of the last three BBL editions. He has 56 dismissals in 60 innings, four behind Jimmy Peirson.

BBL Player Stats – Most Successful Captain


Moises Henriques and Adam Voges are BBL’s two most successful captains. Both players have led their respective sides to glory twice. Henriques took Sydney Sixers to three consecutive finals, winning the 2019-20 and 2020-21 editions. Meanwhile, Voges led Perth Scorchers to the title in the fourth and sixth seasons.
