Pakistan or Nepal will register the first points in the Asia Cup points table as the tournament opener pits two teams against each other at Multan Cricket Stadium on August 30. The much anticipated India-Pakistan fixture is on September 2. Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy, will host the match. 

Super 4s will commence on September 6, and the final is scheduled for September 17. India and Pakistan will likely meet three times, including the final, in Asia Cup 2023. Group B, which has Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, will see some exciting cricket as the Tigers will be keen to reach Super 4s after bowing out in the group stage with two defeats in the 2022 edition. 

Four Venues

Asia Cup is held in four venues – Multan Cricket Stadium, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Gaddafi Stadium, and R. Premadasa Stadium. Multan will only host the tournament’s opening match, while Pallekele and Gaddafi Stadium are allocated three games each. The second Super 4s match to the final will be played at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Asia Cup Format

It will be one of the most interesting Asia Cup cricket tournaments since the matches will be hosted by two countries: Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The Asia Cup points table will have two groups of three teams each. Let us look at the complete Asia Cup 2023 format.

Six Teams: 

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh will be in action.

Two Groups: 

These six teams will be divided into two groups. Group A will see India, Pakistan, and Nepal fighting against each other. Meanwhile, Group B has Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan playing against each other.

Super 4s: 

The top two teams from Group A and Group A will qualify for Asia Cup Super 4s. Four teams will play each other once in the Asia Cup Super 4s. The top two in Super 4s will face each other in the final.
