Eden Gardens is one of India’s most iconic and oldest cricket stadiums. With a capacity of 68,000, it is the second-largest cricket venue in the country. Eden Gardens is home to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who have won three Indian Premier League (IPL) titles. In the 2013 and 2015 seasons, Eden Gardens hosted the final.

KKR played the now-defunct Deccan Chargers in the first IPL match at Eden Gardens. The home side won by five wickets thanks to excellent contributions by Murali Kartik, Ajit Agarkar, and David Hussey. The stadium has witnessed some outstanding batting performances over the years.
In 2010, Mahela Jayawardene became the first player to score an IPL hundred at Eden Gardens. Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Harry Brook, Sunil Narine, Jos Buttler, and Jonny Bairstow are others to score an IPL hundred in Kolkata. On the other hand, Sunil Narine is the lone bowler to take a five-wicket haul at Eden Gardens. The Caribbean spinner achieved the feat against KXIP in the 2012 season.
