Eden Gardens Stadium is one of India’s most iconic and oldest cricket stadiums. With a capacity of over 65,000, it is the second-largest stadium in the country. Eden Gardens is home to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who have won two Indian Premier League (IPL) titles. In the 2013 and 2015 IPL seasons, the stadium hosted the final. Mumbai Indians (MI) won the title on both occasions.

KKR played the now-defunct Deccan Chargers in the first IPL match at Eden Gardens. The home side won by five wickets thanks to excellent contributions by Murali Kartik, Ajit Agarkar, and David Hussey. The stadium has witnessed some outstanding batting performances over the years.
In 2010, Mahela Jayawardene became the first player to score an IPL hundred at Eden Gardens Stadium. The legendary batter, playing for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), struck an unbeaten 110 against KKR. Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Harry Brook, Sunil Narine, Jos Buttler, and Jonny Bairstow are other players who have scored an IPL hundred at the iconic stadium.
Sunil Narine is the lone bowler to take a five-wicket haul at Eden Gardens. The Caribbean spinner achieved the feat against KXIP in the 2012 season. Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Makhaya Ntini. Imran Tahir, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, etc., have a four-fer in Kolkata.
