Objective

The game consists of three players The main objective of the game is for players to fulfill the quota of tricks they are given. In the case of the three players, the dealer has to win five tricks, the second player or the person who sits to the left of the dealer has to complete two tricks and finally the third player must gather 3 tricks to win.

Rules of the game

Step 1

Before beginning the game, the players have to first pick a dealer. Choose a 5, 3 and 2 card from the pile of discarded cards. Shuffle the cards and place them face down. The player who draws 2 is the dealer. The player who draws three sits on the left of the dealer and the last player sits to the right.

Step 2

In the next step, the dealer now hands out five cards each to all the players. The player who sits on the right of the dealer gets to decide the trump card. After this the dealer hands over three more cards to each player. Finally, the dealer then hands over two more cards per person. The trump card can also be decided when the second round of cards are dealt in the instance that the player does not want to announce it in the first round.

Step 3

Now that all players have the required number of cards in hand they can now begin the game. The player to the dealer’s right begins the game by putting down one card. Players then follow suit in a counterclockwise direction. After each player has put down a card, the highest-ranking card in that round will win the trick. Players should also make sure to put down cards of the same suit at each trick. If they don’t have the required suit of cards they can either play the trump card or any other card from a different suit. Cards rank in the order of ace, king, queen, jack, 10 ,9 ,8, with ace being the highest. The winner of each trick begins the next round of tricks.

Step 4

When all 10 cards for each player have been dealt they then determine who has the highest number of tricks. If a player does not meet the targeted number of tricks they face a penalty. The players who have won more than the required tricks get to ‘pull’ random cards from the player who didn’t meet the requirement. These players are also able to give away a card of their choosing when they add an extra card to their hand. That is how to play the 3 2 5 card game.
