The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member squad for the Ireland series starting August 18. Bumrah, who has been out with a back injury for almost a year, is appointed captain, with Chennai Super Kings opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad as his deputy. Ruturaj will lead India in the upcoming Asian Games.
Uncapped players Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma have been picked. Meanwhile, there is plenty of experience with the likes of Sanju Samson, Arshdpeep Singh, Washington Sundar, etc. Also, Shivam Dube and Avesh Khan return to the ‘Men in Blue’ white-ball fold.
Paul Stirling will lead Ireland, and the squad includes uncapped Theo van Woerkom, a left-arm spinner hailing from New Zealand. Mark Adair, who took 12 wickets in T20 World Cup 2024 Europe Qualifier, will be keen to continue his impressive form. On the other hand, skipper Stirling, Andrew Balbrine, and Harry Tector are key figures in Ireland’s batting department. Balbrine hit a half-century the last time both teams met in Ireland.
