The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member squad for the Ireland series starting August 18. India vs Ireland 2022

Both teams met in a two-match T20I series at Malahide last year. The visitors won both fixtures under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. India eased to a seven-wicket win in the rain-affected opening match, while Ireland came close to winning the second after failing four runs short in a high-scoring game. It was the first time Ireland registered 200 runs in a T20I match.
  • Deepak Hooda’s Ton
Deepak Hooda struck a memorable century in the second T20I against Ireland. The Lucknow Super Giants batter, who had an excellent IPL 2022, struck a 57-ball 104. He received excellent support from Sanju Samson, who opened the batting and registered his first-ever half-century in India colors.

  • Bishnoi and Avesh Return
Young spinner Ravi Bishnoi and fast bowler Avesh Khan will look to make the best out of their opportunity. Both players played a match in the T20Is against Ireland in 2022. Though the duo leaked runs, Avesh and Bishnoi picked up a crucial wicket in the first and second T20Is.
  • Results
As mentioned above, India blanked Ireland thanks to some exemplary individual efforts in two T20Is. Hooda clinched the Player of the Series award in the Ireland vs India series for his stellar knock with the bat in both games – 47 and 104.
Let us look at the results from the T20I series.
  1. 1st T20I – Ireland 108/4 (12 overs); India 111/3 (9.2 overs)
  2. 2nd T20I – India 225/7 (20 overs); Ireland 221/5 (20 overs)
Concluding Thoughts
With Asia Cup and World Cup approaching, the Ireland T20I series helps find some much-needed playing time for the likes of Sanju Samson, Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, etc.
India heads to Ireland as the favorite. However, the home side is very much capable of upsetting the odds. Can the young and inexperienced team India deliver clinical performance, or will Ireland spring a surprise?
