IPL 2023 MI franchise has won the most titles in the world’s best T20 league. However, Mumbai Indians (MI) endured a dreadful IPL 2022 campaign. The Rohit Sharma-led side won just four games and finished bottom of the points table. With a record-breaking signing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction, the franchise has clearly put its priorities straight.
IPL 2023 MI Players
MI batting unit has an excellent blend of youth and experience. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav are the two top batters in the franchise’s 25-member squad. The skipper has scored 5879 runs in IPL, while SKY, who has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders, had a sensational 2022, finishing as the leading run-getter in T20Is with 1164 runs at a brilliant strike rate of 187.
There are plenty of hard hitters in the MI line-up. Ishan Kishan, Tim David, Cameroon Green, Tilak Varma, Dewald Brevis, and Tristan Stubbs can produce fiery knocks. The trio of Ishan, David, and Green have plenty of international experience and will play a crucial role in the MI batting unit in the upcoming season.
Jofra Archer’s return after a long injury layoff is a big boost for the franchise. The England international has 46 wickets at an economy of 7.13 in the IPL. Jasprit Bumrah, too, is likely to feature in the two-month-long tournament. Jason Behrendorff, Jhye Richardson, Duan Jansen, and Akash Madhwal are the other pace bowlers in the MI squad.
MI, one of the most successful sporting franchises, looks vulnerable in its spin bowling department. Apart from Piyush Chawla, the five-time champions don’t have an experienced spinner. Hrithik Shokeen and Kumar Kartikeya Singh have played just nine IPL matches between them, while Shams Mulani, Arshad Khan, and Raghav Goyal are yet to make their IPL debut.

Rohit Sharma, who took over the captaincy from Harbhajan Singh in IPL 2013, will lead the side for an 11th successive season. MI flourished under the Hitman’s leadership as the Mumbai outfit won the trophy in the 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 editions. The Mukesh Ambani-owned franchise also lifted a Champions League T20 title under Rohit’s leadership.

Head Coach
Mark Boucher was appointed as IPL 2023 Mumbai Indians head coach after Mahela Jayawardene was promoted to the franchise’s global head of performance. The former South Africa wicketkeeper began coaching with Titans, whom he guided to plenty of domestic honors. He was appointed as head coach of South Africa in 2019.
The 46-year-old South African will be keen on adding value to this dynamic unit which boasts plenty of history and achievements.
IPL 2023 MI Schedule
MI had to wait till their ninth match to pick up their first win in the last season. The most successful IPL outfit managed to grab two points against only Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, and Delhi Capitals. Aiming to win a sixth IPL trophy, MI will be keen to make an impressive start in the IPL 2023 edition.
