LSG IPL 2023 franchise made an impressive debut in the world’s best T20 league last season. The KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) finished third in the points table in IPL 2022. They have made quality additions in the IPL 2023 auction and are among the contenders to lift the 16th edition.

LSG IPL 2023 Players

LSG has some outstanding batters in its 25-member squad. The opening duo of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock scored 1124 runs between them in the last edition. De Kock struck a terrific 70-ball 140* – the third-highest individual score in IPL – against Kolkata Knight Riders. Meanwhile, Rahul hit two hundreds against Mumbai Indians at Brabourne Stadium and Wankhede Stadium.

The franchise bought former West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran for Rs 16.5 crore. The 27-year-old is likely to play a pivotal role in the LSG top order.

Deepak Hooda is a player to watch out for this season. The right-handed batter has been a mainstay in the India T20I squad since his impressive IPL 2022 season, where he notched up 451 runs at a strike rate of 136.67 in the 15th edition. Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, and Ayush Badoni are the other exciting batters on the LSG roster.

LSG has added more quality and experience in its bowling department by signing Romario Shepherd, Amit Mishra, Jaydev Unadkat, and Daniel Sams in the auction. The Indian pace duo of Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan will be keen to extend their excellent run. They collected 32 wickets between them.

Ravi Bishnoi will be LSG’s lead spinner despite the arrival of Mishra, who has 166 IPL wickets to his name. The youngster will want to pick up wickets consistently and earn a recall to the Indian T20 side, for whom he last played in the Asia Cup 2022. Krunal will be the second spinner in the playing 11.

LSG IPL 2023 Venues

Vajpayee (BRSABV) Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. With the IPL 2022 season limited to a few venues, Ekana Cricket Stadium hasn’t been able to host LSG yet. The ground, which has a seating capacity of 50,000, is traditionally a batting track. Teams batting first have grabbed victories in all six T20I matches played at Ekana Cricket Stadium.

With outstanding players at its disposal, LSG is expected to reach the playoffs for a second successive season. It won’t be a surprise if the Lucknow-based team lifts the most coveted trophy in the T20 franchise cricket.
