Punjab Kings (PBKS) are among the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises that have been part of the tournament since the opening season. PBKS has the worst record in IPL among the ten franchises, reaching the playoffs in just two of the 16 seasons. The franchise, co-owned by Bollywood star Preity Zinta, reached the semi-finals in the 2008 season and finished runner-up in the 2014 edition. The franchise hasn’t qualified for the playoffs in the last nine seasons. The owners appointed David Miller, Glenn Maxwell, Ravichandran Ashwin, KL Rahul, etc., as captains, but it hasn’t helped change the franchise’s fortunes. Under Shikhar Dhawan’s leadership, PBKS faithful will be hoping that the upcoming season will be the one that will end their horrendous run in IPL.
