Virat Kohli didn’t have a memorable IPL debut. Former Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Ashok Dinda cleaned up Kohli for just one run. Royal Challengers Bangalore, too, crumbled as they were bowled out for 82 chasing a mammoth 223. But, 15 years later, Kohli is the top run-scorer in the IPL.

After playing in all 15 seasons of the IPL, Virat Kohli is the leading run-getter in the IPL. The dashing batter is 380 runs ahead of second-placed Shikhar Dhawan. Though he amassed just 718 runs in his first three seasons, Kohli, who won the World Cup with India in 2011, picked up the pace and has hit at least two fifties in every campaign from the 2011 edition.

Kohli is the most run scorer in the IPL history with 7263 total runs with 237 matches & 229 innings.

Most Runs in a Single Season

Virat Kohli broke a plethora of records in the IPL 2016 season. The Royal Challengers Bangalore loyalist racked up 973 runs, the most scored in a single IPL season. He also became the first batter to hit four centuries in one IPL campaign. Two tons came against Gujarat Lions and one each against Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and Rising Pune Supergiants.
 

Highest Partnership in IPL History

 
In the history of IPL, there have been five instances of a double-hundred partnership. Virat Kohli is involved in three of them. The record partnership of 229, for the 2nd wicket, is scripted by Kohli and his RCB teammate AB de Villiers against Gujarat Lions in the IPL 2016 season.
 
The same duo stitched together an unbeaten 215-run stand against Mumbai Indians in the eighth edition of the IPL. 
 
In 2012, Kohli and Chris Gayle added 204* against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. Gayle brought up a century, while the Indian batter remained unbeaten on 73.
