Career Overview/ Highlight : Sanju Samson IPL 2013 to 2024

Sanju Samson started to make headwinds by the end of 2010, thanks to consistent scores in domestic cricket. It took him another two years before the Kolkata Knight Riders snapped him up. However, he couldn’t get any game time.

His life changed a year later when Rajasthan Royals picked him up and instilled faith in the youngster. Samson, too, repaid the faith shown in him with his sublime stroke play, becoming the youngest to score a half-century in IPL history at the time – 18 years and 169 days.

However, he was delivering way below his potential. When he moved to the Delhi Daredevils in 2016 following the appointment of Rahul Dravid as a mentor, who was his mentor in Rajasthan, fans thought that he would finally come into his own.

However, inconsistencies followed him, and he was criticized for his shot selection. He found the purple patch again when he returned to Rajasthan Royals in 2018. He responded with 441 runs upon homecoming.

He was eventually named skipper for 2021, and he never looked back, accounting for over 450 runs in 2021 and 2022, respectively. The Keralite registered 362 runs at a strike rate of 153 in the IPL 2023 season.

Sanju Samson won his first player match of the award in his just second IPL match – a 63 against RCB in IPL 2023.
Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals engaged in a fierce bidding war to sign Sanju Samson in the IPL 2018 auction. Eventually, the Royals signed him for ₹8 crore.
