Ishan Kishan came into the spotlight after he led India to the 2016 Under-19 World Cup final, where they finished runners-up to the West Indies. Gujarat Lions bought the youngsters for ₹35 lakhs at the IPL 2016 auction. As the franchise became defunct, Ishan moved to Mumbai Indians in 2018 for a staggering ₹6.20 crore. He amassed 275 runs in the 14 games on his debut season with the Mumbai outfit.
It was only in 2020, in the UAE, that Mumbai really found Ishan Kishan, the superstar. He scored 516 runs in 13 innings, which included four half-centuries. He was out for 99 against RCB in a match that went to the Super Over.
In 2022, Mumbai released Ishan ahead of the auction after an ordinary outing in the previous season. However, they signed him back for a massive ₹15.25 crore at the mega auction. The wicketkeeper-batter has been consistent with the bat ever since.
