Ruturaj Gaikwad impressed one and all with his sublime batting in the domestic T20 tournament, where he was the highest run scorer for Maharashtra during the 2018-19 season. 

Unsurprisingly, he caught the eye of CSK scouts, who bought him for ₹20 lakhs in the IPL 2019 auction; however, he remained on the bench and would play his first IPL match in 2020. That season, he made a huge impression with three fifties in six games.

He was retained for the next season, where he amassed over 600 runs and walked away with Orange Cap. Naturally, the youngster’s stakes went up and received ₹6 crore ahead of the mega auction.

Gaikwad has never looked back since then, becoming the first-choice opener for CSK.
