Kane Williamson was picked by an IPL franchise for the first time in the IPL 2015 auction. His sheer talent made him rise through the ranks at Sunrisers Hyderabad to become the franchise’s captain.

In 2018, he was appointed the skipper as David Warner had to step down due to an international ban. Williamson led the side to the finals and amassed 735 runs, becoming the Orange Cap holder.

Although the team lost the final to CSK, his captaincy skills were lauded, and he was retained for the next season. In 2020, the SRH skipper again amongst the runs helped the franchise reach the last four of that season. He moved to Gujarat Titans in 2023.
