Career Overview/ Highlight : Rashid khan IPL 2017 to 2024
One of the earliest superstars of Afghanistan, Rashid Khan, was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2017 IPL auction at a price of ₹4.9 crore. And he repaid the faith by picking up 17 wickets in his maiden IPL stint.
The franchise was impressed with his performance, and he was retained for ₹9 crore for the next season, where he was even better, picking up 21 wickets. Thanks to this performance, SRH was convinced that he was one for the future and was retained until 2021, even as big names around him were let go.
Rashid, who took inspiration from legendary Shahid Afridi, wasn’t a turner of a ball. He would bowl wicket-to-wicket and would keep his pace. Plus, he is an excellent batter who can add valuable runs in the death overs.
In 2022, he moved to the Gujarat Titans and won the IPL trophy in his first season. The Afghan spin king has been a vital cog in the franchise, as he was retained for a whopping ₹15 crore for his all-round skills and the vice-captain in the 2023 season.
