Career Overview/ Highlight : Shubman Gill IPL 2018 to 2024
Shubman Gill got an IPL contract even before he became a superstar. In February 2018, India won the Under-19 World Cup, and Gill won the Player of the Series award in the tournament. But Kolkata Knight Riders scouts knew Gill’s talent before and had already purchased him for ₹1.8 crore.
Gill couldn’t repay the faith shown in him, as he made just 203 and 296 runs in 2018 and 2019, respectively. In 2020, he made a considerable improvement. Opening the batting in the UAE, he scored 440 runs, while in 2021, he amassed 478 runs. The KKR management was unimpressed, and he was released.
Gill was then snapped up by a brand new franchise, the Gujarat Titans, and the youngster showed KKR why they had erred. He slammed 483 runs and would have an outstanding season in 2023, where he won the Orange Cap, accounting for 890 runs with three hundred to his name.
