Career Overview/ Highlight : Umesh Yadav IPL 2008 to 2024
Umesh Yadav’s IPL career is nothing short of a see-saw ride. He picked up six wickets in his debut season in 2010. Next year, he struggled with only two wickets to his name. Nevertheless, he rose like a phoenix, picking up 19 wickets in 2012, becoming the fourth-highest wicket-taker that season.
In 2014, he moved to the Kolkata Knight Riders at a price of ₹2.6 crore and stayed there for four seasons. It’s here that he shaped into a new bowler with consistent performances.
In 2018, RCB bought Umesh for ₹4.2 crore. He repaid the faith, picking up 20 wickets. Although he was retained, he couldn’t follow up with this performance, with his death bowling leaving a lot to be desired.
He was back at KKR in 2022. But after a superb showing in the initial games, his performance fizzled out. But he finished the season with 16 wickets. However, in 2023, he picked up just one wicket in eight games for KKR, his worst-ever show. Naturally, he was let go ahead of the 2024 IPL auction, where Gujarat Titans bought him for ₹5.8 crore.
