Career Overview/ Highlight : Sam Curran IPL 2019 to 2024
Sam Curran tormented India with his left-arm seam bowling as they toured England in 2018, and that was when the world took note of this youngster. At the 2019 IPL auction, Punjab Kings shelled out a whopping ₹7.2 crore for him. Curran, on his part, couldn’t do justice to this prize money as he went on to take just ten wickets in nine games. But, the 20-year-old picked up a hat-trick, becoming the youngest player to do so in IPL.
In 2020, he moved to CSK. It is where he would play his best cricket. In a dismal season for the team, Curran took 13 wickets with his medium pace and scored close to 200 runs. He didn’t take part in the 2022 auction. But after an excellent 2022 T20 World Cup campaign, the Englishman was back in the IPL fold and laughed his way to ₹18.5 crore, becoming the most expensive IPL player. He had a decent IPL 2023 campaign.
