Career Overview/ Highlight : Ravichandran Ashwin IPL 2009 to 2024
Ravichandran Ashwin made his IPL debut in 2009 for the Chennai Super Kings. He won back-to-back titles with the franchise in the 2010 and 2011 seasons. The IPL 2010 season also marked the beginning of Ashwin’s rise, as from that year onwards, he was consistently among the wickets for the yellow brigade.
He would have stayed with CSK if the franchise hadn’t been barred from the IPL for the spot-fixing scandal in 2015. In 2016, he moved to the Rising Pune Supergiant, and the following season, he missed out on the tournament due to a sports hernia injury.
In 2018, he was picked up by the Punjab Kings and named their skipper. But he couldn’t inspire the franchise to a playoff finish in the two seasons he was there.
Delhi Capitals bought him in the IPL 2020 auction. He ended up with 13 wickets, while the franchise reached the final that season. After a disappointing 2021 season, Rajasthan Royals bought him for ₹5 crore in the 2022 mega auction, where he was retained in the next two seasons.
